That was my first thought when I was invited to coach mid-career artists who had just received a prestigious grant award. I reminded myself that all my previous work - from facilitator, to cultural producer / organizer, to program officer - had all prepared me for this role. Moreover, in non-professional settings, I had been already been acting as a coach with friends and peers. Like facilitation, I’ve embraced coaching as a naturally occurring tendency in the ways I relate to others. Now I’m asking:
I’m not a “coach.”
